Ashley Petrie is a conductor, composer, educator, and singer-songwriter based in Grass Valley, California. Originally from nearby Nevada City, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she studied with Dr. Leslie Hogan, Dr. Jeremy Haladyna, Dr. Sarah Gibson, and Dr. Brandon J. Rolle, and a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Redlands under the mentorship of Conductor Co Boi Nguyen and Dr. David Scott. Most recently she has received her California Single Subject Teaching Credential from United States University for Music Education.

Ashley currently works as the Music Director at Bear River High School, where she leads instrumental and vocal ensembles and teaches a range of general music courses. She is actively pursuing adjunct professorships at local community colleges as she works toward her long-term goal of becoming a college-level music professor and orchestra director. She is passionate about inclusive and engaging music education and is committed to fostering creativity, accessibility, and equity in both academic and performance settings.

In addition to her work as an educator and conductor, Ashley remains deeply dedicated to her creative practice as a composer and singer-songwriter. Her music blends elements of contemporary classical and folk-pop, often rooted in personal storytelling and natural imagery. In 2025, she released her debut album, “25,” marking an exciting milestone in her artistic journey.
